Based in the United States, FedEx was founded in 1971 under it’s elongated name Federal Express. It saw immediate, unprecedented success and just twelve years later had amassed a billion dollar in revenue. FedEx is now one of the world largest couriers, employing almost half a million people worldwide.

On their website, FedEx describe how they aim to connect the world through their business, eCommerce and shipping solutions, stating “a connected world is a better world”. They live up to this statement by having excellent trading links worldwide. FedEx boast the largest air network for express delivery of any courier as well as a thorough and established road network across Europe.

This courier is best known for its express/ overnight shipping upon which the company was founded. FedEx saw early success because it started as one of the world’s first solutions for urgent package delivery. They were also the first to implement a real-time package tracking system, a concept that has now been adopted by most major couriers.

FedEx offers a very large range of services across multiple division, so you can usually find a suitable service for your parcel with FedEx. Some of their best known and most popular divisions are FedEx freight, FedEx Express and TNT Express.

Create rules from dozens of conditions and commands

Example Shipping Rules

Upgrades

Automatically upgrade shipping services to express or next day. This can be based on certain data points in an order such as price or weight, or based other conditions such as date. Many of our clients find this feature useful when running promotional periods.

Multiple Accounts

In the case of when a company has multiple accounts with couriers for different online shops etc, rules can be written to override courier account information in certain circumstances. If your company is made up of multiple divisions, this may mean you only need one Shipster account.

Returns

For easy returns for your customers, map your Shipster to print returns labels to be included in the packaging. This is available for multiple couriers and return labels can be embedded into your custom documents.

Failed Shipments

Shipping rules can help you manage your failed shipments. For example, choose to automatically transfer them into a "skipped" queue; print documents alerting and instructing warehouse packers that the order has failed; or archive them to a designated folder.

Date and Time

Add rules to send orders on certain services based on the date or time of day. This is useful if you are integrating with couriers that have cut off despatch times for next day delivery, or if certain services are only valid on certain days of the week.

Notifications

Choose to map in Shipster whether the customer receives tracking notifications from the courier for orders going on a certain service. Select whether this notification is in the form of an email or text. This function is only available for certain couriers.

FAQs

Shipster does have the ability to send customs documentation electronically, namely commercial invoices and airway bills. This feature is only available for couriers whose API is set up to request these documents for the countries that support paperless trading.

After the initial set up fee of either £1500 or £2500 depending on which contract length you sign, the only monthly cost is the support fee. This costs £50 per licence and allows you to access our responsive support team and customise your setup as much as you want, whenever you want. Try our pricing calculator for your warehouse here.

If the courier you’d like to ship with supports dangerous good then this is possible. You can even set up your Shipster to automatically print warning information to accompany dangerous or fragile items, and trigger popups instructing warehouse staff on how to handle such items.

Shipster is designed to be highly customisable, bespoke service because we understand every company’s needs are different. You can edit and add rules as many times as you like, and we are always open to new operational suggestions. Sometimes customers come to us with requests that we hadn’t even thought of, and our development team explores whether we can make it possible.

As a giant in the courier world, FedEx is extremely well connected across the globe and has a large variety of services across multiple divisions to choose from. This means an integration with FedEx is often sufficient for all your company’s various shipping requirements. As it is based in Tennessee it is especially efficient for delivery to the USA, so is a popular courier for our clients with a large American customer base.

Shipster uses information from your online orders to create and print shipping labels for the chosen integrated courier. The shipment is directly booked in with the courier and the tracking number is imported back into your warehouse management software. Shipster can also be set up to print other shipping documentation such as return labels, CN22s and commercial invoices.

The support from Oddsphere for Shipster is second to none. During the implementation of our new warehouse management system including despatch, Shipster was the best-supported element. The service integrates well into all of our carriers and saves a huge amount of time compared to manual entry. The pricing structure of Shipster means the more we send, the more we save which works well for us as a small to medium size business user. Once it’s set up ongoing costs are minimal instead of being tied to a price per parcel. Overall very happy with the service we have received so far.
