We're Now Integrated with DPD Ireland!

We are excited to announce DPD Ireland as an addition to our list of integrated couriers!

This integration was completed in record time for our Irish client- the eCommerce skin and hair care retailer Beauty Features, who are part of the I Love Shopping group. Our development team worked closely with the DPD Ireland technicians to quickly submit and validate test shipments in a wide variety of different shipping scenarios to ensure the integration is watertight.

DPD Ireland gained ISO quality accreditation in 1995 and has sustained this excellence to become Ireland’s most popular parcel delivery company today. DPD Ireland has 37 depots across Ireland which allows them to connect even the most remote rural areas of the country with the rest of the world and handle around 20 million parcels every year. They owe their success and stable infrastructure to over 30 years of experience and moving with the times. Founded in 1986 under the brand ‘Interlink’, this company has undergone many large scale changes. In 2000 it was bought by the French courier giant La Poste and changed its name to ‘GeoPost’. By 2008 it had morphed into the company we know it as today as La Poste united all their acquisitions under the DPD brand.

DPD Ireland aim to be technologically forward-thinking. A few years ago they released an app that allows you to buy shipping and manage your deliveries all in one convenient place. This app provides multiple ways to ensure that you never miss a delivery such as real-time parcel tracking, optional pickup points, choice of delivery dates and text updates. They have also taken advantage of new technology with regards to heavy machinery. On their website, DPD Ireland describes how they have combined “the new Beumer cross belt sorter… with the existing Van der Lande shoe sorter” to mean they have “the most technologically advanced and efficient sortation system in Ireland.”

In terms of shipping services, DPD Ireland have extensive links across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland so can provide a reasonable range and unmatched flexibility. Examples of these services are next day, Saturday guaranteed, cheque on delivery and timed deliveries. They also offer extensive services to Britain and try, where possible, to offer the exact same prices as shipping to Northern Ireland. There is less choice for international shipments, which are primarily delivered by air, except for Europe which they now only ship to via road. This lowers the cost of shipping, reduces the environmental impact, and is apparently still very efficient as they take advantage of their parent company’s continental infrastructure. One advantage of using DPD Ireland is their transparency, as they break down every step of your parcels’ international transportation journey on their website.

We already have a few clients using our DPD Ireland integration and we hope to welcome more as we expand our client list in Ireland. This is what Shipster user and I Love Shopping general manager Brendan Mc Inerney had to say about shipping with DPD Ireland:

“As a customer centric business we wanted to ensure we could let our customers decide who they want to deliver their parcels. Now we have rolled out the service to multiple stores and we can see customers are choosing DPD which further reinforces our decision to make the investment”.
